US festival to screen Iran ‘Wednesday’

Cinequest Film and VR Festival in the US has scheduled to send Iranian feature film ‘Wednesday’ on screen.

‘Wednesday’ directed by Soroush Mohammadzadeh is set to go on screen in the festival during four screening sessions on March 1, 2, 8 and 10.

The flick is an intuitive, profoundly affecting, masterful drama, exploring the high stakes when choosing between love, anger, and tradition. For a long time, a family has been waiting for the court verdict to be announced for the killer of their father, and now, finally, justice is due. Only the killer is one of their in-laws, and sending him to death would mean a total break between the two families, and no future for the newlyweds and it is up to the two brothers to avenge the tragedy that has left them broken, or spare his life, forgive and mend what is left; unfortunately, both have a different idea of what right/wrong dilemma.

The event will also screen four Iranian short productions, including the animated piece ‘The Servant’ by Farnoush Abedi.

A vanguard organization set in the Silicon Valley, Cinequest Film & VR Festival’s uniqueness and impact result from being ahead of the curve in the powerful integration of creativity and technology.

Cinequest fuses the world of the filmed arts with that of Silicon Valley’s innovation to empower youth, artists and innovators to create and connect - driving transformations and a better tomorrow.

The 2017 edition of the Cinequest Film & VR Festival is slated for February 28 to March 12 in San Jose, California.
